Next, we have two extra screenshots of CPUZ we wanted to share with you. One is of AMD’s Ryzen 3 2300X processor, which will be available in the 6th quarter of this year. The processor features AMD’s Zen 2 architecture that has a core base clock of 3.0 GHz and the processor supports DDR4-4200 and DDR4-5200. The second screenshot of interest is of Ryzen 3 2200G, which will be available in the 5th quarter of this year. Like the first Ryzen 3 processor, the second Ryzen 3 processor also features the Zen 2 architecture, and this time has a core base clock of 3.2 GHz. In the process of testing the latter, we have successfully tested DDR4-4800 and DDR4-5000, but we were not able to test DDR4-5200.

This morning I got a pop-up from ESET (see attached pictured) telling me that a potentially unsafe application had been found, called cpuz139_x64.sys. I assumed that it was from CPU-Z, which I formerly used, so I uninstalled CPU-Z but the problem was still there. I had ESET clean the file and restart, and the file was successfully deleted before the restart, but after the restart it had been re-created. I then tried restarting in Safe Mode and manually deleting the file and was able to do so, but on restarting to Normal Modeit had been recreated, so I went back into Safe Mode and deleted it again, then restarted to Safe Mode and it had not been recreated, then when I restarted to Normal Mode after that, it had been re-created. My question therefore is:

B) Does anybody know of a good program (like ESET) that can be used to scan for and delete malware like this? I have ESET but I don’t know how to use it. I am very computer illiterate! I don’t even know if I have had the malware before. A vague memory from CPUZ doesn’t help. I think ESET should be able to look at this and tell me if it has happened before or not.

If you have an AMD processor, there is a good chance that CPUZ worked correctly without installing anything onto your computer. CPUZ will perform an optimization that allows it to launch your browser and open a webpage to the cpuid.com website.

Many CPUZ developers are students or hobbyists who would like to make a better application for the community. Their contributions are all made in the public domain, and are not copyrighted. The manual, user interfaces and code (to some extent) are copyrighted, but this is done to keep the manuals in a single place for people to read and understand the software, not to prevent people from copying the code. Some projects use a mix of community software and community copyright.

The.exe extension on a filename indicates an executable file. Executable files may, in some cases, harm your computer. Therefore, please read below to decide for yourself whether the cpuz.exe on your computer is a Trojan that you should remove, or whether it is a file belonging to the Windows operating system or to a trusted application.

I was wondering about this, not exactly sure what it could be but it did keep coming up when I was scrolling through CPU-Z. He was an embedded engineer and I had had this pop-up countless times, ” cpuz139_x64.sys ” he had the same problem. He would remove the file from the temp internet files folder and it would come right back. I thought it might be malware that was constantly changing the name of the file and then renaming it, but it was never a file that could be found at the temp internet files folder. After he removed it from the temp internet files folder I would reboot and remove the file from the temp internet files folder. ” cpuz139_x64.sys ” came back. I have removed it from the temp internet files folder and it has never come back, but CPU-Z would crash and reinstall itself when he used it or I would use CPU-Z on a new system and it would freeze and crash and would not restore. I have no desire to use it anymore and I will be doing a full system clean install tonight. We had switched machines a lot during the change process and a lot of software that had been on his machine had been installed on mine. It would be nice if I could know which software had been installed so that I could tell you if you used CPU-Z or any other similar software that you may have installed on your computer, and which software may be causing this file to come back. Any ideas.

CPUZ New Version

CPUZ New Version

Right so I just got this computer. This is the first build I’ve done since October, and right now the CPU is @ 3.5GHz. CPUZ has been behaving erratically for the past couple months, with it freezing up on me until I reboot the computer. Then its on the regular upgrade cycle. I try with a System Restore point set for February 9th. cpuz crashes immediately, with cpuz.exe giving me a stack trace from 1 of the NTDLL functions. This happens every time, and I’m ready to give up on it until… I unplug the other extension cards and try the software. Lifetime CPUZ Version works immediately with 2 cards plugged in. It’s a mystery. The error is replicated with just one card. The stick of RAM used on the CPU is brand new. Today I tried attaching the video and sound cards, and CPUZ worked fine. Then I removed them and tried again, and it worked again. I’ve also tried switching drives around. CPUZ works fine on my Windows 8.1 Media Center, and it works fine on my Windows 7 machine, with multiple changes to be made, making me skeptical that it’s a problem with my hardware. What could be causing it? Anyone?Posted by Stew at Email This BlogThis! Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest Yes comments:

I’ve tried deleting the last 2 cpuz versions, but when the computer is restarted it has recreated them. I’ve also disabled startup programs in the Task Manager, but it’s still being recreated. I’ve also tried running Process Explorer but it’s not finding the file.
